Food Safety Specialist

Essential Functions:

  • Lead with Facilities ‘Food Safety and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) program.
  • Oversee, maintain, revise, ensuring compliance, and initiate continuous improvement for all policies, procedures and programs relating to food safety. This includes, but not limited to:
    • Regulatory compliance
    • HACCP Plan and prerequisite programs
    • Food Defense
    • Pest Control
    • Crisis Management
    • Allergen Control
    • Recall and Traceability
    • Supplier Certification (includes raw/finished product and packaging)
    • Training – general Food Safety and job specific Food Safety training
    • Personal Hygiene and compliance to corporate Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)
  • Ensure all personnel adhere to all published food safety requirements regarding the Operations activities.
  • Perform documented random and/or scheduled internal audits and inspections of the facility to verify adherence to Food Safety policies and provide corrective action on non-compliances.

Other Functions:

  • Participate and direct schedule safety committee meetings.
  • Perform other duties and work as necessary.
  • Wash and rinse industrial cooler condensers using scissor lifts.
  • Clean walls, racks, drip pans and safety rails as needed using scissor lifts.
  • Sweep Floors/Operate floor scrubber.
  • Rinse and treat drains.
  • Clean trash cans / break down cardboard.

  • Undergraduate Bachelor’s degree in related field or at least 3+ years Food Science and/or Food Safety function
  • Proficient PC skills in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and common E-Mail systems

Work Schedule:

  • Monday – Friday
  • 6:00am – 4:00pm (can be 8:00am – 4:00pm)

Compensation:

  • $21.00/hour
